In creating The Emperor Suspension Light from Moooi, designers Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu took inspiration from the fairytale of an emperor and his nightingale. The emperor was so enraptured by the beautiful song of the nightingale that he commissioned a cage to be built so he could the nightingale forever with him in his chamber. Much like the nightingale's cage, the rattan-style shade of this suspension light is crafted from hand-woven bamboo so nothing but the sweet notes illustrious illumination may escape.

Founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers in 2001, Moooi is devoted to listening to designers and making their dreams take form. The result? A collection of lighting, furniture and accessories that is playful, unique and exquisitely daring.
